Zimbabwe 2026

This blog post highlights a recent photographic safari across Zimbabwe . The journey began at the breathtaking Victoria Falls, where the heavy mist and dramatic atmosphere provided a perfect canvas for capturing the untamed power of the water. Moving into Hwange National Park, the trip offered immersive wildlife encounters with massive elephant herds, resident lion prides, and magnificent sable antelopes in the low-angle light. The final stops included tracking silhouettes against the shoreline of Matusadona National Park and photographing bull elephants in the golden forests of Mana Pools.

Untamed Grace 2026

There is an untamed, cinematic rhythm to the high desert of Utah that challenges both a photographer's patience and their technical execution. In 2026, I ventured into the remote expanses of the Great Basin to document the legendary Onaqui wild mustangs, tracking their movements across vast, dust-choked floodplains. Under the expert guidance of Jen Rogers and working alongside my close friend and fellow wildlife photographer, Charles Janson (explore his exceptional imagery at C Janson Photography), our mission bypassed conventional wildlife documentation to expose the raw, kinetic energy of these horses in their truest element.

On Shifting Ground: Documenting the Coastal Brown Bears of Chinitna Bay, 2025

There is a profound stillness that settles over the salt marshes of Chinitna Bay just before the tide turns, a silent reminder that you are standing in one of the most untouched wilderness areas on earth. Located along the rugged Cook Inlet coast of Lake Clark National Park, this weather-beaten sanctuary serves as the backdrop for my latest fine-art photo essay, On Shifting Ground. Last summer, my good friend and fellow photographer, Charles Janson, and I journeyed deep into this dramatic landscape under the expert guidance of renowned bear biologist Brad Josephs to document the raw, unfiltered reality of Alaskan coastal brown bears during the annual salmon run.

Ghosts of the North: The 2025 Great Gray Owl Irruption

There is a distinct, bone-chilling silence that only a northern Minnesota winter can command, but in February 2025, that quietude was shattered by a historic biological phenomenon. Driven by a severe collapse in boreal rodent cycles across Canada, a legendary winter irruption pushed the Great Gray Owl (Strix nebulosa) southward in numbers not witnessed in a generation. Venturing into the sub-zero fields of Two Harbors and the frozen expanses of the Sax-Zim Bog alongside fellow photographers Charlie Janson and Frances Fuji, I dedicated my lens to documenting these apex phantom hunters as they materialized against the stark, white canvas of the north.

Shadows and Horizons: 2025 Tanzania

There is a precise moment just before dawn in East Africa when the world hangs entirely in suspense, the golden savannas stretching outward to meet an infinite sky. From April 20th to May 1st, 2025, I returned to this primordial landscape to immerse my lens in the raw, unscripted drama of apex felines during an exclusive masterclass guided by world-renowned photographers Federico Veronesi and Tin Man Lee. Venturing deep into the off-road tracking fields of Ndutu and the towering granite kopjes of Namiri alongside my close friend and trusted field collaborator Charlie Janson, our mission bypassed conventional wildlife portraiture to isolate the quiet, powerful souls of Africa's great predators through dramatic low-key lighting and minimalist compositions.

The Dual Heart of Kenya: Light, Wildlife, and Purpose

There is a powerful symmetry to Kenya that pulls at both an artist’s lens and a philanthropist’s soul. In 2024, my partner Bindu and I journeyed to this extraordinary country with a dual purpose: to capture the unbridled, backlit theater of the Masai Mara, and to stand on the ground alongside the vibrant school communities we support through Every Child Counts. Moving from the high-contrast dust of the savannah—where we isolated the raw, silent majesty of apex predators—to the classrooms of our adopted schools, this expedition underscored a profound truth: while a photograph can capture the enduring beauty of life, purposeful action has the power to rewrite it.
